Former Republic of Ireland international Clinton Morrison thinks that most of the Leeds United fans want Massimo Cellino out of their club and he feels the Whites are unlikely to return to their former glories with the Italian in place.

On Tuesday night Cellino showed his sixth manager the door, in a little over two years in charge of the Yorkshire giants. Steve Evans' contract had been due to expire at the end of June and the Scot had been in limbo over his position since the end of the season.

The Italian supremo has split opinion amongst Leeds fans, with a protest group named 'Time To Go Massimo' having been formed to push for him to sell up.

And Morrison believes Leeds are not likely to return to their former glories while the Italian sticks around, while he has also been left with the impression that most Whites fans want Cellino out.

"I hope they can get back to their former glories, but [they need] the right man and the right chairman – but I think he wants to stay in there", he said on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday night.

"Maybe most of these fans if you speak to them I think they don't want him as the chairman, but he's going to stay there and try to do the best.

"Hopefully they get to where they should be because it's a massive club and they've got unbelievable fans", Morrison added.

Former Swansea City boss Garry Monk is now favourite to be appointed the new Leeds boss, but it remains to be seen how long Cellino will give him to succeed in the pressure cooker atmosphere of Elland Road.
