Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has insisted that he will decide his future after the summer break.

The 25-year-old, who scored in the Netherlands' 2-1 win over Poland in a friendly last night, joined Newcastle from PSV Eindhoven last summer.

However, Wijnaldum’s 11 goals and five assists in 38 Premier League games could not prevent the Magpies from avoiding the drop to the Championship.

As a result, the Dutchman has been linked with leaving Newcastle in the summer, with Roma interested in snapping him up.

But Wijnaldum explained that he will take a call on his future after his summer holidays as he is presently fully focused on the Netherlands national team, who will face Austria in another friendly at the weekend.

“Every day I am being asked about my future, not just by journalists, but also by my friends and family”, he told Dutch Fox Sports.

“My first focus is the national team and then after the holidays I'll see what happens.

“I'm working on it, but it's not easy.”

Wijnaldum, who is expected to enjoy a long summer break due to the Netherlands’ failure to qualify for the upcoming European Championship, is contracted with Newcastle until 2020.
