Former Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has been offered the manager's job at Oldham Athletic.

Leeds showed Evans the door at the end of May, despite him surpassing the targets set for him upon his appointment by chairman Massimo Cellino.

He had been linked with the job at Peterborough United, while Nottingham Forest were also mooted to be an option for the Scottish tactician.

But it could be Oldham that Evans ends up taking charge of as according to the Yorkshire Evening Post he has been offered the job at the League One side.

Evans is now set for talks with Oldham next week as he looks to decide whether to take the post.
