Nice defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy is expected to arrive in England next week to complete his move to Leicester City, despite West Ham slapping in a bid, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The Premier League champions have been struggling to hold on to their best players in the summer, but have been working hard to strengthen their squad for next season.

Mendy has been one of Claudio Ranieri’s top priorities; the Foxes have been in talks with Nice for the last few weeks over a deal and it seems an agreement is imminent.

While West Ham are also interested in the player and are claimed to have made a bid of €15m this weekend, Mendy has always been keen on moving to Leicester and reuniting with his former Monaco boss Ranieri in the East Midlands.

And the Foxes are on the verge of concluding a deal with Nice for the 23-year-old defensive midfielder that would see him move to the King Power Stadium in the summer transfer window.

Mendy is also expected to arrive in England on Monday to finalise the agreement and possibly undergo a medical, ahead of his proposed move to Leicester City.

The midfielder joined Nice from Monaco in 2012 on a free transfer and has racked up 121 appearances for the club thus far.
