Leeds United linked Sebastian Larsson is currently earning £38,000 per week at Sunderland, it has been claimed.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been mooted as a potential signing for new Whites head coach Garry Monk, but the Championship side may struggle to meet his wage demands.

Larsson is under contract with Sunderland for a further season, having joined the Black Cats in 2011.

He earns, according to journalist Simon Austin, a weekly wage of £38,000.

Leeds are expected to strengthen this summer as owner Massimo Cellino looks for the Whites to mount a serious push for promotion to the Premier League under Monk.

But even if Larsson were to drop his wage demands slightly, they could prove a bridge too far for Leeds.

Larsson, who has won 86 caps for Sweden at international level and is in the country's squad at Euro 2016, spent time in the youth ranks at Arsenal.

He left the Gunners in 2006, initially on loan, joining Birmingham City, a move which later became permanent.
