Dundee United new boy Cammy Bell has revealed that he left Rangers in search of a new challenge and will work towards making Tannadice a fortress.

The Tangerines confirmed the signing of the 29-year-old earlier this week on a two-year deal after he negotiated his departure with Mark Warburton's Rangers.

Bell struggled with a shoulder injury at Rangers last season and saw Wes Foderingham establish himself between the sticks at Ibrox.

The goalkeeper claims that the chance of a new challenge with Dundee United was a movitating factor when it came to choosing to call time on his spell with Rangers, who secured promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season, something Bell will now miss out on.

According to Bell, his aim during the next season will be to try and make Dundee United's home ground a fortress and he believes that manager Ray McKinnon will want the same.

"I've come here to another challenge", Bell told his club's official website.

"I want to make our defence really strong and hard to beat.

"Hopefully we can make Tannadice a fortress again. I can always remember coming here with Kilmarnock and it was very difficult to get a result.

"That's how Tannadice should be and I think the manager will drill that into us this season."
