Veteran Rangers striker Kenny Miller is expecting an electric atmosphere at Ibrox for the club’s first Premiership game in more than four years in August.

Following their liquidation in 2012, the Glasgow giants were forced to start in the fourth tier of Scottish football, but they fought back to earn promotion to the top tier last season by winning the Championship.

It has been a long hard road back for one of the erstwhile giants of British football, and Miller played a vital role in Rangers earning their ticket back to the Premiership.

The 36-year-old remembers the frantic atmosphere at Ibrox for their first home game last season, and is confident that the home ground will be bouncing when Rangers host Hamilton Academical on the first weekend of the 2016/17 Premiership campaign.

Miller told the club’s official website: “I remember the atmosphere at the first home league game last season and it was just unbelievable.

“I was suspended and in the stands – people talk about the Rangers and Ibrox of old and that game had a real feel of optimism and everyone looking forward to a new season under a new manager and with a new team.

“I imagine that it will be electric for that game with the atmosphere cranked up ten-fold come the Hamilton game.”

Rangers have already sold a record number of season tickets and have made a positive start to the summer with seven new signings already inside the building.
