Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits he does not have long to prepare his side for the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

Warburton's side head to the United States on Monday for a ten-day training camp, which will also include a friendly against local team Charleston Battery.

The former Brentford boss feels that time is not on his side as Rangers have their first competitive game of the season on 16th July, when they take on Motherwell in the League Cup.

Warburton will not quibble with the timing of the trip to Fir Park and believes his squad simply must cope with the early season clash.

He told Rangers TV: "We play our first game on the 16th so time is tight and it’s very, very early.

"The League Cup is what it is and we have to deal with that and make sure that we are in good shape", Warburton added.

Expectations are high at Rangers ahead of the new season, which will see the Gers back in the Premiership.

Warburton has already strengthened his squad, bringing in goalkeeper Matt Gilks, defender Clint Hill and midfielders Joey Barton, Josh Windass, Matt Crooks, Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter.
