Veteran Rangers striker Kenny Miller is confident that the club have the squad needed to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

Mark Warburton’s men won the Championship last season at a canter to earn promotion and will be playing their first top tier game in August in more than four years.

The Rangers boss has also added seven new faces to their squad this summer, including big names such as Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar, but the Englishman has been cautious about talking about his team’s chances next season.

However, Miller is confident that despite being in a rebuilding phase Rangers can challenge Celtic for the league title in the 2016/17 campaign, as he feels that they have a balanced squad to do so.

The veteran striker told the club’s official website: “Now we are in a stage where we are rebuilding and the manager has done a fantastic job of rebuilding last season.

“We have a really good young and hungry squad that was able to go and win the Championship last season and the basis of a squad that can go on and challenge this year.

“I think we are in a good place with the squad both in terms of numbers and quality which will mean that we can go and mount a challenge this year.”

Celtic have won five titles on the trot and Warburton feels that there is still a difference in quality between the champions and Rangers.
