Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that his club will assess the situation around Henrikh Mkhitaryan this week, amid Manchester United's interest in the winger.

The 27-year-old is at the top end of new Manchester United manager's Jose Mourinho's wishlist, with the Red Devils having been tipped to complete a €38m deal.

Mkhitaryan's agent has also spoken publicly about his client's desire to move to Old Trafford, insisting that it would be a sin not to chase a deal.

And now the club CEO has revealed that he will have to discuss the situation with coach Thomas Tuchel, sporting director Michael Zorc, along with club officials, this week before anything concrete finally comes up.

"We will assess his situation this week. We not only need to discuss it with Michael Zorc and Thomas Tuchel, but also with the bodies", Watzke told German magazine Kicker

Speaking about the difficulties that concern the current situation, Watzke said that his club will have to consider the economic, strategic and sporting situation, before taking a final decision.

"It is a difficult decision.

"There are three perspectives with every transfer: An economic, a strategic and a sporting.

"If the economic side becomes overwhelming it might happen that you make a different decision in the end."

Mkhitaryan was in fine form for Dortmund last season and has also been linked with Arsenal this summer.
