Nottingham Forest have appointed Frenchman Philippe Montanier as their new head coach.

The Championship side have been on the lookout for a new boss and several names have been strongly linked with taking over at the City Ground ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Now they have settled on their choice as Montanier has taken over at Nottingham Forest, according to the Nottingham Post.

The 51-year-old will land at the City Ground with no experience of English football, having spent his entire playing career, as a goalkeeper, in his native France.

Montainier has managed outside France though, with a spell at Real Sociedad between 2011 and 2013 giving him a taste of Spanish football.
