French giants Paris Saint- Germain have confirmed that they have parted ways with coach Laurent Blanc.

Blanc, who is currently 50 years old, spent three years at the Paris based club after joining in 2013 and penned a new contract at the club in February.

The former Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan defender led PSG to the Ligue 1 title throughout his three-year stint at the club, but failed to do anything substantial in the Champions League.

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City in the quarter-final last season and were eliminated at the same stage two times prior to last season.

Blanc, who has also managed the French national side, parted ways with the Les Blues after their defeat to Spain in Euro 2012.

In a statement that was released on the official PSG website, club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “As we embark on a new chapter in the development of the club, I would like to thank Laurent Blanc for everything he has achieved over the last three years, both in terms of the playing style and results.

“I wish him the best for his future challenges.”

PSG have been linked with former Sevilla manager Unai Emery, who helped the Spanish giants to win the Europa League in three consecutive seasons.
