Former AC Milan defender Oguchi Onyewu has joined Rangers for their training camp in South Carolina in the United States.

The 34-year-old has not played in a competitive game since early 2015, when he turned out for Charlton Athletic against Middlesbrough.

Now Onyewu is bidding to prove himself to Rangers manager Mark Warburton, as the Gers boss continues to look for defensive reinforcements.

The centre-back, who holds a Belgian passport, earned through his time in the country with La Louviere and Standard Liege, has substantial experience.

Onyewu has notably turned out for Newcastle United and Sporting Lisbon, while he has turned out in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy and England.
