Aston Villa star Idrissa Gueye is wanted by French giants Marseille, who spy an opportunity following the Villa Park side's relegation from the Premier League.

Gueye was one of the few players to emerge from Aston Villa's disastrous season with his reputation intact and the Senegal international is wanted in France.

According to French radio station RMC, Marseille are looking at snapping up the midfielder and have sounded out his agents about the possibility of a move to the Stade Velodrome for their client.

And they believe that the former Lille man may be open to a return to France.

The Ligue 1 giants favour a loan deal, with an option to buy, for Gueye, however the player's salary could prove a stumbling block.
