Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton.

The 24-year-old winger has put pen to paper on a contract with the Reds and will officially become a Liverpool player on 1st July.

The Senegal international impressed during his two-year spell at Southampton and caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp last season.

He scored a total of 25 goals in 75 appearances in all competitions for the Saints and is delighted to have switched to Anfield, where he will now look to kick on.

"Today is a big day and I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe", he told his new club's official site.

"It’s a club that has won a lot of trophies and has a big history.

"Now I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and my team-mates and starting the season", Mane added.

Liverpool are claimed to be paying £34m to Southampton to sign Mane, however the total fee could eventually hit £36m, depending upon his performances while at Anfield.

The Reds are expected to look to recoup most of their outlay on Mane by selling Christian Benteke, who cost £32.5m to sign from Aston Villa last summer.
