Rangers have signed full-back Lee Hodson from MK Dons on a three-year deal and the defender revealed what he heard of the Gers on the grapevine made him keen to join.

The 24-year-old was part of Northern Ireland's squad at Euro 2016 and Mark Warburton has moved quickly following the country's exit from the tournament to scoop Hodson up.

Able to operate as both a right-back and a left-back, Hodson gives Warburton extra defensive options and provides competition for James Tavernier and Lee Wallace.

The defender is delighted to have landed at Ibrox and explained that he already knows several players at Rangers, who impressed upon him the size of the Scottish giants.

"It’s amazing, an opportunity to come to such a massive club is a dream come true", Hodson told his new club's official site.

"From the day I heard that there was an opportunity to come here my mind was made up and I couldn’t be more excited at the moment.

"I cant wait to get started and meet all the lads", the full-back explained.

"When I found out, I can’t really explain, it was one of those surreal moments where you are like 'Wow, Rangers are possibly interested in me'.

"When I got the phone call to say to come up and get things sorted it was a proud moment for me and my family.

"I know a few of the lads here already and they’ve told me what a big club it is, it has a great fanbase and stuff like that.

"So that sold it to me and I was just excited to get up here and get started."

Hodson's new side are currently in South Carolina in the United States for a ten-day training camp which includes a friendly against Charleston Battery.

The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock, something which allowed him to take a close look at the game north of the border.
