Pep Clotet has revealed himself and Garry Monk have been spending hours glued to last season's Championship games as they bid to get a feel for the league they hope to guide Leeds United out of.

Head coach Monk and assistant Clotet worked together at Premier League outfit Swansea City, before departing the Liberty Stadium in December last year.

They have now reunited at Elland Road, charged by Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino with securing a top six finish as a minimum requirement.

Clotet respects the quality of the Championship and explained the coaching staff are working hard when it comes to preparing for life in the second tier.

"What we've done is to analyse all the Championship games to see exactly how the competition is", the assistant explained to LUTV.

"You analyse how the teams attack, how the teams defend, how you have to fix a little bit the way you want to play, so you know you can handle this kind of competition.

"It's tough work because there are a lot of teams and players you have to see. Also decisions you have to make, so it's quite intense", he added.

Leeds start the new Championship season by playing QPR at Loftus Road, before they then kick off their EFL Cup campaign by taking on Fleetwood Town.

The Whites could only finish 13th in the Championship table last term and failed to put together a genuine promotion tilt.
