Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers believes he has added more goals to the team with the signing of Moussa Dembele.

The Premiership winners secured the signature of the highly rated hitman from Championship side Fulham earlier this week, signing him on a four-year deal which is official from today when his contract with the Cottagers expires.

Giving his view on the signing, the former Liverpool boss said that he is looking to take a more attacking approach this term, and therefore has decided to add Dembele to the strike force in order compliment Leigh Griffiths.

Shining light on the issue of goalscoring last term, the manager said that apart from Griffiths, who scored 40 goals, the only other player to reach double figures was Tom Rogic, managing ten.

While on the flipside that means that the Bhoys had players to score from all positions on the pitch and did not have to depend on any one player, Rodgers insists that finding a goalscoring striker was top of his agenda and Dembele fits that bill well.

“For me, what was important when I looked at the team, was the introduction of pace in the team, more speed, but also having more of a goal-threat", Rodgers told his club's official website.

“Leigh got 40 goals last season but I think the next top scorer was 10 so I wanted to attack and we’re going to be very aggressive in our attacking style but at least it comes from different areas, not just one main source.

“So the idea would be to bring in that quality, not having a lot of players to come in but a lot of quality players to help us with that element of our game.

"Moussa is the beginning of that.”
