Leeds United may well miss out on Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher as West Ham United are claimed to be pushing for his signature.

Fletcher is out of contract with Manchester United this summer and is not short of options following an impressive loan stint in League One with Barnsley, during which he helped the Oakwell outfit to promotion to the Championship.

He has knocked back a new contract offer from the Red Devils and is wanted by Leeds, however the Whites look to be losing the battle to sign the striker.

Indeed, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, West Ham are pushing to take Fletcher to the Olympic Stadium, while Leeds have made no progress in their own move for the striker.

A move to West Ham would give Fletcher Premier League football, while the Hammers are also in the Europa League in the forthcoming campaign.

Leeds have already signed a striker in the shape of Marcus Antonsson, who has linked up with the Whites from Swedish club Kalmar.

The Whites struggled to score goals last term and new head coach Garry Monk is aiming to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
