Chelsea are in talks to sign Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez from AC Milan this summer, according to Sky Italia.

The Blues are in the market for an understudy to first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as Asmir Begovic is expected to leave Stamford Bridge during the transfer window.

Chelsea have looked towards Italy for a solution, and it has been claimed that they have opened talks to take 34-year-old goalkeeper Lopez to Stamford Bridge this summer.

And the club are expected to complete the move after they manage to offload Begovic. Chelsea have offered a three-year contract to the former Real Madrid goalkeeper.

Lopez is said to be looking for a change after losing his starting eleven slot to 17-year-old goalkeeping prodigy Gianluigi Donnarumma at AC Milan last season, and is excited about Chelsea’s interest.

Chelsea are looking for an older head to fill their second choice goalkeeper’s slot behind Courtois and believe Lopez’s experience will come in handy for Antonio Conte at some point.

The Spaniard joined AC Milan from Real Madrid in 2014, and has clocked up 37 appearances for the Serie A giants.

He has a contract until 2018 with the Rossoneri.
