Leeds United's newly appointed first-team coach James Beattie is hoping to use his experience to get the Whites back to where they belong.

The appointment of the 38-year-old was confirmed by the Championship side earlier today as they continue with the overhaul process within the club.

Beattie, a former Everton and Rangers player, previously worked with senior team manager Garry Monk when he was in charge at Swansea. The former striker though left his post after the sacking of the manager.

And now that he has officially been allowed to return to the coaching fold yet again, Beattie insists that he will use all his experience to help the Peacocks.

Reflecting on his coaching career so far, the Englishman said that the Accrington experience was good for him as it helped him earn a lot of respect both from the players as well as the fans. The Swansea post that was yet another fruitful stint and now the Elland Road appointment will help to enhance his reputation.

“I’ve had a taste of management at Accrington, which was a brilliant experience", Beattie told his new club's official website.

“I learned a lot of things about the job – we were right up against the coalface – and I got a lot of respect from people within the game for that.

“Then I went to Swansea, where I spent a lot more time on the grass, coaching elite players. I really enjoyed that and the building of relationships with them.

“I’ve come in this week to a fantastic training facility. It gives us an environment where the players will be encouraged to develop and to flourish and to bring out their own natural personalities and talents.

“We’ll be doing a lot of work tactically, physically and technically and hopefully that will set them off on a pathway to get Leeds back where they belong."
