Former Manchester United winger Bojan Djordjic believes Zlatan Ibrahimovic will add star quality to Jose Mourinho’s squad and have a positive effect on young forwards such as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

The veteran Swede striker confirmed yesterday that he will be joining Manchester United this summer and is expected to complete the much anticipated move later today following a medical at the club’s training facilities in Carrington.

He will become Mourinho’s second signing at Manchester United following Eric Bailly’s arrival last month, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan also expected to complete his transfer to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in the next few days.

The Swede scored 50 goals last season in all competitions last season for Paris Saint-Germain and former Red Devil Djordjic believes he is going to add star power to the Premier League and Manchester United, who badly need a big name such as Ibrahimovic.

Djordjic told Swedish daily Aftonbladet: “He’s a world class player.

“Just because he is Swedish, we believe perhaps we praise him a bit too much, but he is a big player in the eyes of the rest of the world too.

"The Premier League is not as strong as it once was and they need big name players and managers.

“A big name [like Ibrahimovic] has been missing in the historically famous Manchester United.”

The former Manchester United Young Player of the Year also feels his countryman can have a positive effect on young forwards such Rashford and Martial at Old Trafford.

“He has the experience and authority, and will be gold for Rashford and Martial.

"They will be able to look up to him, rather than carrying Manchester United, as they had to last season.”
