Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has ended his 29-year stay at Old Trafford, and will be officially leaving the club in the next few days, according to the BBC.

The Welshman’s future was under a shroud of mystery after Louis van Gaal was sacked after the FA Cup final and Jose Mourinho was appointed as the new manager.

Giggs was assistant manager under the Dutchman, but Mourinho is expected to name his long time ally Rui Faria as his assistant and the Welshman was offered a coaching role at the club.

The new Manchester United manager was expected to hold talks with Giggs over his future, but it seems a decision has been made, and the former winger will be ending his 29-year long association with the club.

Giggs still has a year left on his contract with the club, and is expected to agree a compensation package with Manchester United before departing Old Trafford in the next few days.
