Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s assistant Gabriele Oriali is considering staying with the Italian national team despite an offer to join the Blues backroom staff this summer.

The former Inter Milan and Fiorentina midfielder was part of Conte’s backroom staff with the Azzurri, and with the former Juventus boss moving to Chelsea, Oriali was also expected to move to west London.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 63-year-old is considering continuing with the Italian national team, despite Conte’s offer to join his staff at Stamford Bridge.

Giampiero Ventura will succeed Conte in the Italian national team, and it has been suggested that the 68-year-old is keen to have someone of Oriali’s experience in his backroom staff.

While he wants to continue with the Azzurri, the veteran coach is also keen to understand the role he is going to play in Ventura’s team before he makes a decision on his future.
