Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer, according to German magazine Sport Bild.

The French champions are looking for a new figurehead after Zlatan Ibrahimovic left the club to join Manchester United on a free transfer and the Germany captain has appeared on their radar.

The 31-year-old midfielder joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich last summer, and was an important part of the starting eleven during the initial months of the season before he succumbed to injuries in the second half of the campaign.

He made 31 appearances for the club in all competitions, but he played very little football in the second half of the season and it is unclear whether he features in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the new campaign.

If Manchester United are willing to sell the player it seems they have a ready buyer as PSG are keen to take the Germany captain to the French capital this summer.
