Tottenham Hotspur are close to securing a deal for the signature of AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen and the Dutchman is expected to travel to London for a medical today.

Spurs have been in talks with AZ for weeks over a proposed move for the 22-year-old forward, but the Dutch outfit rejected their initial offer for the striker, leading to further speculation.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the player, but Tottenham have also come under pressure from London rivals West Ham, who have been keeping tab on Janssen for some time.

However, it seems Tottenham have agreed to give in to AZ’s demands, and according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, they are on the verge of reaching an agreement with the Dutch outfit for Janssen.

AZ are expecting Spurs to table a bid worth €22m, and the striker is expected to travel to London today to undergo a medical with the White Hart Lane outfit.

The deal is expected to pick up pace today, and Tottenham are hopeful of officially confirming Janssen’s signature next Monday.

The Dutchman visited Tottenham’s facilities last month, and is said to have been digging in his heels over a move to White Hart Lane this summer, despite offers from other clubs.

He scored 27 goals in his first season in the Eredivisie and has a contract until 2019 with the club.
