Arsenal are chasing Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and are considering offering Olivier Giroud in part-exchange to bring the price of the Argentina striker down.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to add another striker to the ranks at the Emirates Stadium and activated Jamie Vardy's release clause earlier this summer, but the England hitman chose to remain at Leicester City.

Now Wenger has switched his attention to Higuain, but is not willing to pay the striker's release clause of €94m, according to Sky Italia.

In order to bring the price down, Wenger is claimed to be considering throwing Giroud into the deal, as he looks to take Higuain to England.

Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri recently watched Giroud play in the Euro 2016 final for France and is a confirmed admirer of the striker.
