Joel Ekstrand's agent has left the possibility of his client still signing for Leeds United open, while reassuring the Whites the defender is completely over a serious knee injury.

It had been thought the Whites had backed out of snapping up the Sweden international after concern at his medical results, with worries over his knee; Ekstrand suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury while with Watford in March 2015.

But the defender's agent Martin Dahlin insists that his client is fully over the injury, having had his knee assessed by two specialists, and has full mobility.

And he assured Leeds that they need not worry about the defender's fitness.

"Leeds have some questions about Joel's knee because he had surgery about a year ago", Dahlin explained to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen.

"But according to two of the best knee surgeons in the world, the knee is fully recovered.

"It is as stable as before and he has the same mobility – there is nothing to be worried about."

And Dahlin does not feel a move to Leeds for his client is completely dead, insisting that talks are continuing and claiming the way Ekstrand's knee looks now is to be expected.

"If you want a signal with a player who has had this type of injury, this is how it looks. Joel has been training for six months now and the negotiations continue", the agent explained.

"It is not that Leeds have declined."

Ekstrand left Premier League outfit Watford following the conclusion of last season.
