Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits he would be keen on signing Papy Djilobodji if Chelsea make the Senegal international available for transfer.

The Tigers were interested in the 27-year-old before Chelsea snapped him up from French outfit Nantes last summer.

But Djilobodji struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, failing to win over Blues managers Jose Mourinho and then Guus Hiddink and was loaned out to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen in the winter transfer window in search of regular playing time.

It is unclear whether the centre-back has a future at Chelsea and Bruce admits he would be interested in adding the 27-year-old to his squad at the KC Stadium if he is made available.

"We tried to sign him before he went to Chelsea", Bruce told BBC Look North.

"If he became available from Chelsea then of course I would be interested.

"But I don't know if he's available."

Djilobodji made 14 appearances in the Bundesliga during his loan stint at Werder Bremen, chipping in with two goals, while he also collected six yellow cards in Germany.

The centre-back's contract at Chelsea runs until 2019.
