Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt admits he has a clear preference for the number 10 role, but insists that he will play anywhere for the sake of his team.

The 21-year-old was asked to perform his favourite role by new head coach Garry Monk during Leeds' first pre-season game, against Shelbourne on Wednesday.

The academy recruit, for whom the coming campaign be his fourth season at senior level, revealed that he was happy to have had the chance to play in his natural position as it was tough for him last season playing out wide.

The 2015/16 season did not live up to expectations for Mowatt, who was Leeds' Player of the Year during the 2014/15 campaign, scoring nine goals from 38 appearances and earning a call-up to England's Under-20 team in the process.

While the aim this season will be to improve on his goalscoring form, Mowatt is not too shy to take up the challenge of playing anywhere on the pitch and scoring.
