Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits that the club are in talks to sell Mario Gotze to Borussia Dortmund, but insisted that they are yet to reach an agreement.

The Germany international has been widely tipped to leave Bayern Munich this summer, and has been linked with a move to England, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur consistently mooted to be his suitors, with the north London club incessantly linked in recent days.

However, Gotze is said to be on his way back to his former club Dortmund in the coming days, and there were claims that a €28m transfer has already been agreed between both clubs.

While Rummenigge admits that the German champions are currently locked in talks with the Ruhr giants and the player’s representatives, he rubbished claims that a deal has been agreed and insisted that negotiations are still under way.

He told German broadcaster Sport1: “I can confirm that there have been talks with Borussia Dortmund and his advisers, but the whole thing is still not perfect.

“The teams must first agree on a transfer fee.”

Rummenigge insisted that though Gotze remains a gifted footballer, he feels after three years at Bayern Munich, it hasn’t worked out for the German playmaker with the Bavarians.

“Mario Gotze is a wonderful football, but it didn’t work out for him at Bayern.

“One must not forget, he has been here for three years now.”
