Juventus are ready to pay Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain’s release clause in order to snare him away from Napoli this summer, it has been claimed.

The 28-year-old Argentine has been heavily tipped to leave the San Paolo, with Arsenal believed to be one of his main suitors, but Juventus are said to be in charge of the transfer chase.

The Italian champions want to extend their domination from Italy to Europe next season with a Champions League triumph, and believe a striker of Higuain’s quality could be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

Juventus have already agreed personal terms with the player, and are set to hold talks with Napoli later today to discuss the details of the proposed transfer.

The Naples giants have already communicated that they will not accept anything less than the €94.7m figure in the striker’s release clause, and it seems Juventus are ready to pay the sum.

The Bianconeri were planning to offer players as part of a deal, but according to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, Juventus are now ready to fork out sum needed to force Napoli’s hands.

It has been suggested that Juventus could soon offer the first installment of €47.3m to Napoli to reach an agreement for Higuain, and take the player to Turin.

Higuain was in pristine form for Napoli last season, scoring 36 times in 35 Serie A appearances, and has a contract until 2018 with the club.
