PSV Eindhoven have confirmed they will pocket a portion of the fee Liverpool are paying to Newcastle United for Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutch giants sold Wijnaldum to Newcastle last summer for €20m, but despite the midfielder signing a long-term contract at St. James' Park, were careful to slap a sell-on clause into the agreement.

Now with Liverpool set to buy Wijnaldum from the Magpies for £25m (€29.8m), PSV will bank extra cash from the transfer.

The Dutch club are coy on how much money they will receive, but have confirmed they are indeed due a payment.

"We can confirm there is a resale clause", a PSV spokesman told Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

"But we will not communicate further details", they added.

It has been speculated that PSV may be due around €5m from Wijnaldum's move from Newcastle to Liverpool.

Wijnaldum made a total of 154 appearances in all competitions for PSV during his time at the club, while he scored 56 goals and provided 24 assists in the process.
