Kolo Toure admits that the Celtic fans played a huge part in luring him north of the border to the Scottish champions.

The experienced defender was released by Liverpool at the end of last season and has joined Celtic on a free transfer, reuniting with the manager who took him to Anfield in the shape of Brendan Rodgers.

Toure has put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Paradise and, while he explained working with Rodgers again was an attraction, he admits that the chance to play in front of the Celtic faithful was a tempting factor.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man also revealed he has not forgotten the atmosphere he experienced when Liverpool played Celtic in a friendly.

Asked on Celtic TV what besides Rodgers' attracted him to Celtic, Toure said: "Let's say the fans because we all know about the Celtic fans and the atmosphere in the stadium.

"When I was with Liverpool we played a friendly game and it was a really exciting game and you could see the passion the fans had here was amazing.

"Of course, it's fantastic when you come to play for such a big club, definitely", the 35-year-old added.

Toure helped Liverpool reach the Europa League final last season and even kept Martin Skrtel out of the side at Anfield, despite his advanced years.

Rodgers will be hoping the Ivorian can continue to roll back the years at Celtic Park.
