New Rangers signing Joe Dodoo has warned the other strikers at Ibrox that he has not joined the club to sit on the bench.

Dodoo was out of contract at English champions Leicester City this summer, but subbed the chance to remain at the King Power Stadium to head north of the border to join the Mark Warburton revolution at Ibrox.

He scored in the Gers' win over East Sterlingshire in the Scottish League Cup on Friday to announce himself in style.

And despite being just 21 years old, Dodoo has kicking on as part of the starting eleven on his mind and not warming the bench for more established strikers.

"I've come to play. I'm here to work hard for my place", Dodoo was quoted as saying by STV.

"That's the same for everybody coming in, they have to put the effort in. Nobody signs up and goes straight into the team.

"You have to work hard every day and compete with your team-mates and see if you can get the nod to start", he added.

Rangers' next game comes on Friday night against Stranraer at Ibrox in the club's final League Cup group match.

And the young striker will no doubt be hoping Warburton hands him another chance to impress and this time in front of the home support.
