Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis is set to undergo a medical today ahead of his season-long loan move to Marseille.

Marseille have been in talks with the Welsh club regarding the 30-year-old striker for weeks over a loan move, and finally reached a breakthrough last week.

The former Lyon forward is on his way back to France on a season-long loan deal, but Marseille have not included an option to sign him on a permanent contract next summer.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the deal will take one more step towards completion later today when the striker will undergo a medical at Marseille’s facilities.

After weeks of talks, Marseille have reached an agreement with Swansea over Gomis’ wage structure, and the French club will be paying 60 per cent of the striker’s salary during his loan stay at the Stade Velodrome.

Gomis started last season on a high with four goals in as many Premier League games, but his form tailed off alarmingly, and he was only a bit part player towards the end of the campaign.
