Harry Redknapp believes that his former side West Ham United can be a top four club in the coming years.

Redknapp, who came through the West Ham academy as a player before going on to make 149 league appearances for the club, previously managed the Hammers for seven years.

The Hammers, who finished seventh last season, will take part in the Europa League next season due to Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph.

Redknapp, who guided Tottenham Hotspur to fourth in the Premier League in the 2009/10 season, feels that given the developments at West Ham, the Olympic Stadium based club can be a top four club in years to come.

He told the official West Ham website: “West Ham is a big club, make no mistake, and has been one of the best clubs in the country for many years and with the move to the new stadium, it’s going to make them even bigger.

“There is no reason why they can’t be a top four or top five team in years to come.”

The Hammers, who have already signed Havard Nordveit and Sofiane Feghouli on free transfers, Gokhan Tore from Besiktas and Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United, open their Premier League campaign on 15th August away to Chelsea.

Their first competitive match at the Olympic Stadium is the visit of Bournemouth on 21st August.
