Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his side are in the market to sign Everton defender John Stones.

It was widely reported that the Citizens were planning to sign the 22-year-old and could well have to pay up to £50m for the England international.




And now with the manager himself has admitted the Citizens are in the hunt for Stones, insisting that his side will try to sign the player though he is not sure what the final outcome will be.

Speaking to the press post their International Champions Cup match against Borussia Dortmund, Guardiola was quoted as saying by ITV: "Everyone knows we are going to try.
 


"We will see what happens."

Guardiola also took time to speak about his satisfaction with the squad he has on offer at the Etihad Stadium, in spite of feeling the need to secure the signature of the England international.

"I am very happy with the squad we have", Guardiola added.

A deal for Stones is yet to be agreed, though it is claimed that Everton's valuation of the player is close to the sum which could be offered by the Premier League giants.

Manchester City's Premier League rivals Chelsea were close signing Stones last summer but were left frustrated in their attempts, with the Toffees refusing to sell one of their brightest young talents.
