Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised his side's new head of fitness and conditioning, Andreas Kornmayer, who he believes is a mastermind in all the things he does.

The 41-year-old arrived to take up his post at Anfield earlier this month after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

The man who spent more than 15 years with the German champions comes with vast experience, having worked under well known managers such as Louis van Gaal, Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.

The Liverpool boss, through his association with the Bundesliga, has seen Kornmayer at close quarters and has in fact credited the man for his role in Bayern Munich's 2013 treble winning campaign.

Having now finally received the chance to work with Kornmayer, the German manager insists that the addition of such an experienced professional will only help to improve his team.

“First of all he’s an absolute mastermind in all the things he has to do for us.

"He’s an experienced guy who has worked together with the best teachers and the best players", Klopp told his club's official website, before hailing the former Bayern Munich man for the way he has fitted in.

“Education and experience are the most important things in this job and he combines these two things in the perfect way.

"He fits together perfectly in our coaching team.

“We didn’t know each other before he came here, but he fits really well.

"He’s smart, nice and funny – I think that’s quite important because we’re together so much every day so if there’s a boring guy around it makes not too much sense and he’s the opposite!

“I think the players will feel the benefit. Athletic fitness, it’s not a case of ‘do it today, feel it tomorrow’, it’s all about doing the right things and then repeating them to reach the next level", the Liverpool manager explained.

“So it’s very good, and he feels really good in this team.”

Liverpool are currently in the United States on their pre-season tour.
