Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter is looking forward to coming up against his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers when his side take on Celtic next season.

The Gers are in the Premiership after toiling away in the lower leagues and are set to rekindle their rivalry with Celtic in league football from next season.

The Bhoys appointed former Liverpool boss Rodgers as their new manager at the end of last season, and Rossiter joined Rangers as part of their summer overhaul which has so far seen nine new faces enter the building.

Ahead of the start of the new campaign, where Rangers are being backed to challenge Celtic’s stranglehold over Scottish football, Rossiter has revealed his admiration of Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman gave the midfielder his break at Liverpool when he was manager at Anfield, and Rossiter admits he still feels grateful to Rodgers for providing him the opportunity.

And the midfielder is eagerly waiting to take on his former manager’s team in the Premiership next season.

"I owe a lot to Brendan", Rossiter was quoted as saying by STV.

"He brought me into the team and gave me a chance [at Liverpool].

"He has managed in the Premier League, he's obviously a good coach and he's got his way of playing.

"But we have got our own way of playing as well, so it's going to be a good battle; it will be interesting.

"I do owe a lot to Brendan. I was only young at the time at Liverpool and was still coming up and learning my way, and so I'm looking forward to [a reunion]."

The first Old Firm derby of the season will see Celtic hosting Rangers at Paradise on 10th September.
