Napoli are set to reopen negotiations for the signature of Liverpool linked midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

The 22-year-old midfielder had an impressive loan spell at Empoli last season, which attracted the attention of some big names from Italy and across Europe.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Pole all summer, but are yet to make any concrete move for him and with Georginio Wijnaldum joining them, the Reds may well now be unlikely to sign Zielinski.

Napoli had an agreement in place with Udinese for the signature of the midfielder, but Zielinski was waiting for Liverpool’s interest to materialise as he preferred a move to England, while he was also open to AC Milan.

But with Liverpool potentially out of the race, according to Sportitalia, Napoli are set to reopen talks with the Poland international’s advisers over a transfer to the San Paolo.

AC Milan are also interested in the player, but currently they do not have the financial strength to compete with the Naples club for Zielinski’s signature.

Zielinski has earned 16 caps for Poland and was part of their European Championship squad this summer.
