Celtic skipper Scott Brown has revealed that Brendan Rodgers is exceptional when it comes to training and says the Bhoys will do everything they can to bring him success.

Rodgers, who was sacked by Liverpool last season, was appointed the man in charge at Celtic Park after the departure of Ronny Deila.

The man from Northern Ireland has brought in his own coaching staff and has introduced a new training regime at Parkhead. The veteran midfielder is more than impressed with what he has seen from the 43-year-old and is confident that the manager will bring more success to the club.

Speaking about the reinforcements that Rodgers has already brought in, in the form of Kolo Toure and Moussa Dembele, Brown spoke about his hope of seeing something even better from the side this year.

While praising the manager, Brown was quoted by the Herald Scotland as saying: "Training has been exceptional. He's a great manager to work under.

"He had Swansea and Liverpool playing good football and we are trying to do that too. We have a long way to go but everyone is enjoying it.

"The manager has already strengthened the team with Kolo and Moussa, and hopefully we can improve. We are determined to defend the title this season.

"Last season was a little bit disappointing overall – but we still got the job done. Hopefully we can do the same this year."

The Hoops will have some unfinished business to attend to when they take on FC Astana in the second leg of their Champions League third round qualifier at Celtic Park on Wednesday.
