Real Madrid are not interested in signing wantaway Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Following Newcastle’s relegation from the Premier League last season, the Frenchman has made it clear that he is not keen to play Championship football next term.

A number of clubs have already been linked with a move for the player, including Arsenal and Juventus, and Sissoko is looking forward to heading out of St. James’ Park this summer.

It was claimed in recent days that European champions Real Madrid have Sissoko on their shortlist of midfield targets, and were planning to slap in a bid with Newcastle soon.

However, it has now been suggested that the Spanish giants have no interest in pursuing the Frenchman this summer, and are looking at other options.

Following a solid European Championship with France, Sissoko wants to play for a top club in the Champions League next season, and feels a season in the Championship might jeopardise his place in the national team squad.

But it seems Real Madrid won’t be one of the clubs Sissoko could potentially join this summer as the European Champions have other irons in the fire.
