Chelsea have made an approach for Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo, who had appeared set for Sporting Lisbon, placing them in pole position for the 33-year-old.

Sporting Lisbon had been confident of snapping up the Portuguese custodian and even had an agreement in place with Eduardo.

However, the Croatian giants have suddenly refused to negotiate with Sporting Lisbon over Eduardo, despite indicating that they would hold talks.

And as Sporting Lisbon assess the situation, according to Portuguese daily Dario de Noticias, they have competition in the shape of Chelsea.

The Blues are on the lookout for another goalkeeper to add to the ranks to provide competition for Thibaut Courtois.
