Chelsea have slapped an asking price of €55m on striker Diego Costa, a figure which Atletico Madrid have not yet managed to hit.

Costa has been strongly linked with leaving Chelsea this summer, as the Blues chase Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku, and Atletico Madrid have been front and centre, pushing to re-sign their former player.

Italian giants Inter, flush with Chinese investment, have also sounded out Costa, but the striker is not sold on moving to Serie A.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Chelsea have put an asking price of €55m on Costa's head this summer.

At present it is claimed Atletico Madrid's offer for the Spain international sits somewhere between €40m and €45m, some way off the Blues' asking price.

It remains to be seen whether Los Rojiblancos intend to move closer towards Chelsea's asking price before the window shuts this summer, or instead look at alternative options.

Inter could also try to convince Costa that switching to the San Siro would be a smart move.
