Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insists he has nothing to say about Paul Pogba's world-record transfer from Juventus to Manchester United, but is prepared to wish his countryman the best of luck.

The European champions have often been linked with Pogba and were tipped to rival Manchester United for the France international midfielder.

However, Los Blancos backed out of the race some time ago, being concerned at the investment signing Pogba would require and the midfielder is joining Manchester United for a fee of €105m plus bonus payments which could take the final figure higher still.

Zidane was asked about Pogba joining the Red Devils and was quoted as saying by Spanish news agency EFE: "I don't think anything to do with Pogba, he's a Manchester United player and that's it.

"I wish him the best, nothing more", the Real Madrid coach added.

Pogba will be rejoining the club he left in 2012 for Juventus after refusing to sign a contract extension at Manchester United.

The midfielder will have to make do without Champions League football for at least a season however, as Manchester United have only qualified for the Europa League.

That means a potential meeting with Real Madrid has been likely postponed for a season.
