Juventus have made the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi a priority following Paul Pogba’s departure last night.

Pogba left Juventus to join Manchester United for a world record fee of £89m last night, and the Italian champions have all hands on deck to sign a replacement for the Frenchman as soon as possible.

Matuidi has been on Juventus’ radar all summer, including other midfielders, and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the Bianconeri have identified the France international as their priority.

The Serie A giants have already informed Mino Raiola about their interest in his client, and have held tentative discussions over Matuidi’s move to Turin in the remaining weeks of the window.

However, the Italian champions are yet to approach Paris Saint-Germain, or make any concrete bid, as they are looking to test the waters before making an offer for the 29-year-old midfielder.

New PSG manager Unai Emery indicated a few weeks ago that the midfielder could be open to leaving the club this summer, but president Nasser Al-Khelaifi read from a different hymn sheet recently.

He stressed that there have been no talks over Matuidi’s departure, and he wants to hold on to the midfielder beyond the summer.

However, there are suggestions that PSG would allow the Frenchman to leave if they receive a fee north of €25m.
