Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admits that Les Gones have received an offer from West Ham for Liverpool linked Rachid Ghezzal, but he is still hoping to hold on to the player.

A product of the Lyon academy, the winger enjoyed a fruitful 2015/16 campaign, with ten goals and nine assists to his name for the Ligue 1 outfit.

His current contract with the club is set to expire next summer, and talks over a new deal are yet to progress, with the talent now attracting interest from England.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the player, but West Ham are the club who are making a real effort to take Ghezzal to England, and slapped in an initial offer of €8m after talks with Lyon yesterday.

Aulas admits that Lyon have indeed received a bid from West Ham for the winger, but is still hoping to see the player sign a new contract with his club this month.

The Lyon president told French sports daily L’Equipe: “I held his hand, and spoke with him; He wants me to talk to his advisers, and I will call them this week to break the deadlock.

“It would be great if we can reach an agreement, but we have received offers for him from West Ham.

“I know Rachid doesn’t want to leave Lyon so we have to find an agreement, as this situation is neither good for him nor for the club.”

Other than West Ham, Everton are also keeping close tabs on the situation of Ghezzal as they ponder over making a play for him this summer.
