Liam Bridcutt must just agree terms with Leeds United in order to seal a switch to Elland Road.

The Whites have been chasing the midfielder, who spent the majority of last season on loan at the club, all summer, but going has been slow as Bridcutt still has a year left on a lucrative deal with Sunderland.

However, there is progress as, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bridcutt has now reached a settlement over the final year of his contract at the Stadium of Light with Sunderland.

And so all that stands between the midfielder joining Leeds is personal terms.

Bridcutt has been claimed to be keen to return to Leeds, where he enjoyed regular first team football last season and forced his way back into the senior Scotland squad.

Sunderland have been keen to offload the former Brighton man and now he is all set to leave the Stadium of Light.

Leeds will push to capture Bridcutt as soon as possible, with the midfielder having missed all pre-season with the Whites under new head coach Garry Monk.

Bridcutt was taken to Leeds by the club's former head coach, Steve Evans, last year.
