Liverpool have rejected a fresh bid from Crystal Palace for out-of-favour Belgian striker Christian Benteke.

The London outfit have been in talks with Liverpool for the signature of the 25-year-old forward over the last couple of weeks, but no deal has yet been agreed between the two clubs.

And it seems the negotiations could be stretched more as according to the BBC, Liverpool have knocked back a Palace bid worth £30m for the Belgium international.

Palace’s latest offer for the striker included an initial fee of £23m, plus add-ons worth £7m, but Liverpool have firmly rejected the offer to further increase the speculation surrounding Benteke.

Alan Pardew has admitted to the need for a striker this summer for Palace, and it seems Benteke is their prime target at the moment, but they will have to offer more money to get the Liverpool man.

Liverpool paid £32.5m to Aston Villa last summer for Benteke, but the striker became a bit part player at the club once Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield in October.

The Belgian rarely made a start for Klopp’s Liverpool last season and was not in the squad for their opening day win at Arsenal on Sunday.
